Getting Started (dont read not done) Here is a guide to help you get started with airsoft. Primary Weapon Selection It will be a lot easier playing airsoft when you buy a gun. Here is a list of recomendations. AEG AEGs are the standard weapon most people choose while playing airsoft. They are battery powered and shoot stock around 285-350 fps depending on the manufacturer and model. The most reliable affordable guns are produced by Tokyo Mauri. They make dozens of different models. The AEG will require you to purchase a battery, high cap magazine, and charger (a RC car charger will work fine). If you have additional cash i recomend upgrading while you purchase gun. This will save you hundreds of dollars in the future. Price Tag for all of this will be around $350-500. AEG chart: This chart is designed to help you pick the right gun for you
Gas Guns Usually side arm weapons, but with hella cash you can purchase a full sized gas rifle ($600-). Gas weapons tend to be unreliable and are not recommended as a primary weapon. They lack the ammunition capacity and often range to compete with AEGs. Gas guns (especially pistols) tend to break down on the battlefield, especially if in the hands of an inexperienced players. Remember if you make a gas gun your primary weapon, clips and gas get expensive. Spring Guns Spring guns are very cheap and should not be used as a primary weapon. Although some spring guns are specialized, like high powered sniper rifles and shotguns, most spring guns lack the range and rate of fire to compete with even gas pistols. If you decide to purchase a sniper rifle ($150-) it is recommeded that you purchase a gas gun as a side arm. Use shotguns only in CQB (close quarter combat) fields. You will not have fun playing with spring guns against AEG's... But spring guns are the most economical, but so is throwing rocks at your opponents.
FAQ Q: What kind of gun should i get for airsoft? A: It is recommended that you get a Tokyo Mauri AEG (automatic electric gun). Gas guns and high powered spring guns/shotguns will be severly disadvantaged when playing against AEG's. Q: How much will airsoft cost? A: For starters you will have to invest around $300-400. About 300 for the gun and 100 for accessories. If you are low on cash try ebay but many guns sold on ebay are worn down or broken. Q: What other equipment will I need for airsoft? A: A paintball mask ($25-60) or some sort of protection for your eyes. (goggles, etc) Also a high cap for your AEG ($35) and battery/charger ($25-50). Q: How many BB's will I need for one day? A: Depending on your playing style you should use around 1,000-3,000 BB's. A standard bag should last the whole day. Q: What is the life of batteries? A: Q: Do airsoft BB's hurt? A: Depends on where you are hit and how close. Usually you will feel them slightly when hit in a clothed area. A range of around 25 feet on bare skin will sting and possibly break the skin. Q: What kind of AEG is recommended? A: depending on where you play. Full size M16 and G3 series are great outdoor weapons. For close quarter combat a MP5, G36, or MC51 would do nicely. Q: Where is the best place to purchase airsoft guns and items? A: An online site from Asia will most likely be the least expensive. Although shipping gets steep at $50-100. To purchase BB's and gas try your nearest airsoft retailer. It will be a lot cheaper, than buying online.
